Intellectual vitality is important to me because I believe that being able to productively disagree and resolve conflict is at the heart of positive and healthy relationships. As a Research Associate at Harvard Business School, I study the importance of relationships and communities in work organizations. I first became interested in this work because of my background in labor and political organizing. Through organizing, I saw and experienced the importance of having constructive dialogue, practicing curiosity, and resolving internal conflict to build strong, democratic movements together. I chose to become a Fellow in Values Engagement because I believe that Harvard University’s mission as an educational institution should be to produce not only excellent students and scholars and researchers and workers, but also ethical and engaged citizens of society who prize our relationships with one another above all.
