Jack Flanigan ’27

Student Advisory Board Co-Chair
Pforzheimer House

Jack Flanigan is a senior in Pforzheimer House concentrating in Social Studies. Jack’s interest in Intellectual Vitality stems from his experiences of robust and rigorous discourse in spaces from high school to Harvard. He is excited to articulate intellectual vitality as a central tenet of the College’s mission, and to continue to explore how intellectual virtue relates to Harvard’s responsibility to morally and civically form its students.

Jack is also interested in the College’s obligation to foster a culture of rigorous, engaged, and compassionate discourse on campus, and how this obligation might be informed by a broader understanding of the university as a site of knowledge production, interpersonal connection, and civic learning and engagement. He is writing a historical senior thesis on how reforms to higher education at the turn of the 20th century influenced the development of university administration and student culture.

Jack continues serving as one of the SAB's Co-Chairs after holding the same role during the 2025-6 academic year. In partnership with former Co-Chair Air Kohn '26 and present Co-Chair Luka Pavikjevikj '27, Jack oversaw the SAB's continued operation. Over the course of the academic year, the SAB dispersed nearly $100,000 on campus to aligned organizations, hosted 15+ community discussions, and advised on classroom policies and orientation materials whose impact has been felt across the College.

Elsewhere on campus, Jack is an Undergraduate Fellow at the Safra Center for Ethics. He also serves as the Vice President of the Harvard Glee Club, the nation's oldest collegiate choir.
